Q1: When did you start making art?
Just like many, I started drawing at a very young age, and until 16-18 years old I didn’t perceive art as a job, more like a hobby. My real artistic activity began around 7-8 years ago.

Q2: What does inspire you?
I have several constant sources of inspiration: music, emotions, mythology, dreams and literature.

Q3: What are your techniques?
Traditional art techniques – graphics and watercolors.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
As I said before, my inspiration comes from music, emotional sphere and dreams. In my opinion, a person can convey his feelings through art and music more precisely than say though film or books. For me, as a person who perceives the world through feelings and emotions, rather than through conventionalities, it is more preferable to work with matters of “extramundane” world; dreams, that are closely connected to the real world; the topics of hidden and unsaid, but wholly heartfelt.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
My main colors are all the tints of blue and green, and lately red and brown. Sea colors have always been “mine”, if you think about the psychology of the color, and I like to use browns and reds more because of the change in my world perspective – it is much warmer now, than say several years ago.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I’d love to combine my detailed graphic style with realistic techniques. I think that my works need more volume and realism.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
At the moment I’m preparing something for several international competitions, including Biennale, that’ll take place in China in the end of this year. Also I’m planning on creating couple of illustrations of the legends and fairy tales, using my style.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of Ourocats.
Details, dreams, depth.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Unfortunately, I don’t have my first works. Instead I’ll tell you about one of my latest works, that you can see HERE. When you’re a kid, your imagination is always deeper, more vibrant, and more open for the outside world. A child perceives and feels the surrounding world more delicately than a grown-up. His values are more simple and pure, and if a child can overcome his fears, like the fear of the dark, he becomes much stronger than any grown-up. For a long time I wanted to draw something on the topic of “home ghosts”, scary tales, entities we don’t see but sometimes feel, and I wanted to convey those ideas in a light form, maybe even comfy. The drawing is done on paper, with watercolors and an ink pen.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
If you compare my old and new works, you can see that in the new ones the technique overall is much better, they have more details, more dynamics and stories. The old works are mostly static, they have only one image, character, plus the pictures were created mostly for the single fragment, rather than to convey the whole picture and plot.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
I think that art should not be under any circumstances the way of escaping the reality, yourself or the outside world. It may be, of course – but only once or in certain situations. But to veil yourself under the mask of art constantly can make you forget about the reality, about who you are and where you belong, make you live with fantasies which will create difficulties in the social world. Art should be the tool of expressing yourself and your ideas and thoughts. For me, drawing is a way of reflecting my feelings, thoughts, colors and lines, and I am just sharing my ideas and perception with the world. And, of course, art is a very important element in my life; I never had any doubts that this is exactly what I want to do for my whole life. It is more than just a job or a tool of self-expression.
