The trip
by liransz

Q1: When did you start making art?
Since I was little. It was a long journey of learning and discovery to find the right medium for me and find a style that I could call mine.

Q2: What does inspire you?
I find inspiration everywhere, but as famously said “especially when I’m working.” I try to capture specific feelings. Many of the thematic of my works come from my life, my surroundings, my experiences. Other times, I am inspired by music: I like to represent the songs that touch me especially.

Q3: What are your techniques?
Basically I do digital painting, this is like traditional painting but in photoshop. I have my Wacom tablet and I can work comfortably with it a painting from the beginning. Sometimes it’s not as “romantic” as traditional media, but has the advantages of being a clean and fast method, two things that are very important to me, as I am impatient and disorganized.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
As I mentioned before, my works deal with my experiences, emotions and feelings, on the surface, is an exploration of the beauty of the dark, perhaps of the twisted, childish visions. In the background, speaks of fear and death.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
There is no specific color for all my work. Colors are tools to express different things, so each picture has its own palette.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Everything! The technique, narrative, style … whole package.
If I have something clear about this profession is that you can always improve and evolve.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I have many projects, most of’m growing little by little and they will see the light as soon as I have the time and resources to make them. For now I still work as freelance (games and children’s books), the collective Hysterical Minds, Sugarflesh and making tutorials.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of liransz.
Dark and cute

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I have not really old stuff online, but I have this which was one of the first practical exercises I did with photoshop. There is nothing really special, just were testing. Back then used many textures, effects and filters. Over time I went taking off those stuff out and doing more “painting”. HERE

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
It’s changed everything, as I said, I used to use photoshop own resources such as filters or predefined shapes, with time I learned to create the necessary effects myself and to use these tools as an aid to specific cases and not as an end in itself. Of course, improving the technique allows more freedom when it comes to narrate and define the style, because you don’t need to be limited by the elements “that you know how to paint”.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Art is my hobby and luckily my profession. It is a language, a way to visually tell stories and express yourself. I would not know that if it is an escape, a catharsis, therapy, educational resources or just a trade. Surely everything. Of course, that’s what I like, the environment in which I feel comfortable and at ease, where I can be useful and eventually give some of my personal vision to the world.
