Q1: When did you start making art?
I’ve been drawing, and creating art since I was really old enough to hold something. It was always a passion but for various reasons I never really took it further than a hobby until 2006 when the opportunity presented to start working for myself and it all took from the really.

Q2: What does inspire you?
I try to be open to finding inspiration everywhere, but typically most sources for me tend to be written texts (or speeches in some cases) or music. I suppose really I am inspired by other peoples inspiration.

Q3: What are your techniques?
Day to day I use a combination of Photoshop on my PC and procreate on the iPad, but I also keep my hand in more traditional mediums (favourites being acrylics, inks, and charcoals) especially when painting at live events where it is more visual to be painting at a large canvas.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
There are usually a couple of ideas across the majority of my work, a sense of questioning and seeking a deeper reality or answer, but there is also a sense of a void, an emptiness, that is being examined and also seeking to be filled.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I try and not tie myself down to one or two colours, but if course inherent preferences do seen to make themselves know, I loved earthy colours for background especially as I feel they usually frame the content well, but probably one of my more prominent colours would be purples, it does seem to be evident in a vast majority if my work, especially my traditional medium work. I love the hues of purple it has a richness and yet darkness to it I find appealing, and of course the symbolism of using purple in certain contexts is not without it uses, in particular in more spiritual orientated pieces.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
There are so many ways I need to improve it would take pages to go through, but I think the biggest would be my work with more realistic forms, such as human figures and a feeling of solidness and integration into the artworks scene.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
At the moment no, however it is a desire of mine to look into doing sculptures, in particular with wood so I am looking into doing that as I feel the organic nature of wood would compliment my style.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of kimded.
Unusual, Provoking, Spiritual.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Don’t have my earliest work as that was too long ago, and is lost deep in the mists of time, but I think the best to show would be “bound in despair” HERE as it one of the first digital artworks I completed and it was instrumental in me rekindling the passion into perusing a more professional aspect to my artwork. I was really just experimenting at this stage, much like a child learning to draw for the first time, it is work trying to capture a sense of being caught by despair and using an angelic representation to accentuate this. This was really one of the first pieces that captured many of the threads that would evolve in to the style I am currently using.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I would hope to say a marked improvement in skill in artistic techniques but also understanding in what helps creates meaning in a piece.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Both, it is an escape from reality that should free us to explore and open ourselves to the essence of life, it should allow the viewer, and the artist, to at least on some level be brought to a point where they can examine some aspect of themselves, others, or their reality.
