Q1: When did you start making art?
About 6 years ago, shortly after i got my first DSLR.

Q2: What does inspire you?
My dreams and subconscious. Also music, movies and of course other artists.

Q3: What are your techniques?
I am a digital artist – each of my works is build on one or several photographs, manipulated in photoshop. I work with canon eos 60D.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
My body of work consists mainly of self-portraits and as a rule is very personal. I like to think of it as a way to tell my own Stories, in hope that people can relate to what they see.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I am a big fan of cold colours, mostly its cyan and blue. I’m not sure why, never thought of it actually 🙂

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I’d be happy to take my technical skills to the next level. Right now I am trying to experiment more with brushes, thus getting closer and closer to digital painting. I think the ability to paint and reconstruct any reality you want gives you a lot of freedom.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Well I have quite a few. Exhibitions-wise I’m having 3 collective and 1 solo show this spring – I am very excited. I also plan several collaborations with other artists – working with someone else is always a very interesting and enriching experience.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of DariaEndresen.
Ehm.. melancholy.. sensitivity.. inner-self.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Ah I’d be too embarrassed! Besides im not sure I kept my older stuff anywhere on the web anyway… the earliest one you can find is probably this HERE. The technique was rather simple : a self-portrait edited in photoshop, if I remember well I used some ready-made brushes I found on deviantart.com and a couple of textures. The image was inspired by bjork’s song *unravel* (hence the title) – it’s one of my first self-portraits and it was most definitely a story about love.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I’d like to believe I grew a lot as an artist and my work acquired a lot of meaning – I think when I started, I just wanted to make “cool stuff”, and in the process creating became an outlet and some kind of a therapy to me. I have definitely learned in the technical aspect as well but I realize there’s still a long way to go.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
I’d say both. creating is crucially important in my life and one of the main reasons for it is that art is a perfect escape from reality.
