Albino Girl and her Pet
by AlyziaZherno

Q1: When did you start making art?
Since I was a little girl I liked drawing. My father painted when he was younger, and my love for the art is thanks to him.
But was in my teenage years when I knew that painting was going to be an essential part of my life.

Q2: What does inspire you?
Everything old is always for me an inspiration, like films of the first decades of the 20th century and antique photography.
I love Rococo and Victorian era aesthetics as well (fashion, furniture and decorative objects, music, etc.), but contrarily also I love creepy and macabre stuff.

Q3: What are your techniques?
My techniques are traditional (gouache and oil) and digital. I try to work both equally.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
My characters could be inside a normal dream or a nightmare. They are delicates and somewaht melancholy, but they are perturbing as well.
I like that combination between sweet and sinister beauty.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I try to not repeat the same colours, but I think red tones are almost always in my work, even if in a small detail, simply because is one of my favourite colours, and red color is very powerful in many ways.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I think I would improve everything in my work because I am too young. I want to keep learning and avoid stagnation.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Yes, I’m going to illustrate the Volume 2 of Romance Negros Ilustrados.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of AlyziaZherno.
Delicate, sweet and dark.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
This is not my first work, but this HERE is the first work I did with the essence of my real style. a
They are a weird couple having a tea time. It’s a watercolor painting, these characters are waiting for their story to be told, they are always in my mind for a future project illustrated book.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Obviously more technical and practical skills, and I suppose more conceptual maturity. But like I said before, I am in continuous practicing and learning and I will do forever, it comes to improving mentally and emotionally, and technically with techniques that I already work and the new ones.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Both of them, it’s escaping from reality to create your own reality, so other people can see what is in your mind. And the essence of my life because I think art is part of humanity, one of all components that allow to create our history.
The art makes more human to humans.
