Q1: When did you start making art?
I started painting when I was about 4 years old. I do not remember that drawing, it was a stream of children’s fantasy. And for example at 9 years old, my sister and I painted a huge albums, drawing sectional houses various animals (there were storage rooms and bedrooms, baths, etc.). But I started drawing professionally only at 21 years old.

Q2: What does inspire you?
Basically, video games and the work of other artists, both contemporary and classical. Sometimes movies, sometimes the case of life, sometimes my girl, rainy day. Anything can inspire me.

Q3: What are your techniques?
Usually I sketch on the Cintiq, update it several times, and proceed to detail. Using photo textures to add details, and draw draw draw until I see fit to stop. Sometimes, for a specific job, profitable sketch pieces photo references and already top modifying brushes. Again it depends on the desire. I love from time to time to try something new.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I paint all of my works spontaneously, usually I start a sketch, and the result is something quite different. Yes, of course, it depends on my mood, what I feel at the moment, but usually the whole idea and thought out history in the making. This is for my personal work of course. I know that’s not quite right, many are advised to consider all aspects in detail, small parts, etc. But when I try to do so, I quickly lose interest in the work.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Such color isn’t present. Well, I like some colors more than the others, but in my opinion everything depends on an image, mood of work. If you look at my works, you will see that they are rather motley.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
What could be improved in my work can be a very long list. I am constantly looking for ways to improve drawing techniques to more confidently brush over forms, studied plastic anatomy, trying to work more intelligently with color and light. In general the same problems, as at the beginning artist. The artist seems to me learns to draw all the life, and it is very interesting. Always there is something to aspire.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Yes of course, there are a couple of ideas. But these are just ideas. To carry out my artistic ideas, I still do not have enough experience. And of course time.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of AlexRaspad.
drawing, music, sarcasm.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
This work HERE can be regarded as the first, and the first hand-drawn on a graphic tablet I think. It was 2005. I wanted to draw something massive, alien, giant size and mysterious. But opportunities to represent it didn’t suffice, and there even there are graphic bugs. I remember one my friend, who told that palm trees is plasticine.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I think the only changes are technology and knowledge. I’ve always had ideas. I often reinterprets old work, or finish old pictures, just for fun. For example my work «father and son» just one of those.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
I think the first. In general, this thing that I just always like to be engaged.
