year of birth: 9/11/1986
Q1: When did you start making art?
I began to be passionate about art 4 years ago, but I developed a big interest on trying to penetrate deep into my inner imagination turning it visible about 2 and a half years ago, and I believe that art is an excellent instrument to be able to do that.
Q2: What does inspire you?
In my everyday life, I observe a lot and capture images and details of all sorts, I am constantly hungry for images, sensations and particular sounds I can use and personalize at the right moment.
I am also very attracted to the Victorian era and the big masters of Italian and Flemish art of the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries.
Q3: What are your techniques?
My illustrations are made through digital painting, photoshop and a graphic tablet.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
Often, the initial idea starts in a very imprecise way, like a feeling, a visual paradox, a concept, abstract at times, charged with a special unconscious energy.
My works are cruel landscapes of the psyche, compositions full of symbols and layers, designed to leave the viewer disturbed and restless.
My inner imagination is a world similar to today’s world, dedicated to appear and transmit only what’s easiest to emerge, not revealing the real states of mind that pervade and corrode the psyche, where all are prisoners of an age which imposes constraints that always end up showing fiction instead of reality.
Disturbing contexts that speak through glazed eyes covered in pain always focused on the observer, on us, almost to question us, seduce or, even worse, blame us.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I do not have a default color palette, I use different colours according to the work, but I do have a tendency to use dark colours and tones, to bring out an almost theatrical atmosphere.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I would improve everything, I am not yet satisfied with my works, so I dedicate body and soul every day between study and practice, to obtain a greater sensitivity and technique to allow me to exceed my limits and achieve a level of performance that satisfies me.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Getting better and better and better…
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of theartofTenia.
Symbolist, disturbing, surreal.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
My very first artwork is not on the web, unfortunately, but I could consider this illustration HERE as my first work, which has given rise to a further development of a personal and precise style.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
It helps me more and more to discover the hidden sides of myself,
allowing me to have the courage to face my own shadow.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Art is the essence of life, for me, life without art would make little sense. The art, today as yesterday or the Renaissance, is one of the biggest motivation to man, might just be an end point to which to devote a lifetime. In my opinion, art is worth living. But it is also at the same time the path that allows me to get away from reality to escape into my own world.
