Q1: When did you start making art?
I drawing since I can think, but where is the point now, where you can say it is art?
In 2008 I began to draw a series of drawings called “In Apathie” and “Realität” (the beginning HERE). It was a dark phase and some works are inspired by black metal music like Burzum or Xasthur. In this time I also had read the “Edda” and so the northern mythology influenced my art henceforth.

Q2: What does inspire you?
That is so difficult to answer honestly. There is so much around me which is deeply moving me and so it is only a guess:
I love every kind of tales and the German romantic (literature and paintings too), the nature, landscapes. I really like listen to music too while painting.
But terminal I have to say that it is obvious that the art of the polish master Zdzislaw Beksinski is a big impact for my style to paint.

Q3: What are your techniques?
I prefer traditional mediums to draw and paint: charcoal, pen, acrylic and oil colors. Most of my work I paint with simple hog bristle brushes, only for some details I need black sable brushes.
If you want know more about “how I paint” you can take a look to some
steps HERE.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I only paint because it is a pleasure for me to do it and I see that there are people who like my art and they are feeling something if they see it. I feel it too, but I can not say what it is.
Would I can explain you this mystery, I would not forced to paint it.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I have no main- or favourite color.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Oh I do not know, because you are seldom really satisfied with your work as an artist.
I think every new picture is an effort to improve an aspect of your art, but the aspects are very variegated. Today I want more diffuse colors and tomorrow I want more contrasts.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
In the long term I want to assemble a little art book and maybe in collaboration with the music project “Drang” (HERE) of André Hullmann some new works sproud out.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of Scheinlicht.
Feeling – thinking – painting

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Really my very first work as I was two or three years old?
No, I want to spare you. My very first serious work is the painting “The throne of the depth” (HERE), which I painted in acrylic and oil colors on canvas in 2009.
I captured a very deep apathetic feeling in it. Somebody is squatting on a throne which is a mystical portal too. You can also say this painting is the ending of the drawing series “In Apathie”.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Nothing? I do no know, I think the essence is the same, but maybe it is a question for people that have followed my work over years.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
For me art is something sproud out of yourself and you want to express it, but you can not do it in a rational way like mathematics or written definitions.
It is like to explain somebody what is nature on condition he never seen the ocean, a wood, trees, rivers, mountains and so on, in his live.

  Love this art!
