Q1: When did you start making art?
-I started doing art activities at a young age, I always had a passion in drawing and painting. Later, pursuing my degree in Advertising Art, I was fascinated by the use of photography oriented advertising. Then, when I realized the Master in Fashion & Advertising Photography, I discovered that this was my best way to express and recreate the alternative worlds that I dream, creating a mix between fashion photography and fantasy photography.
Q2: What does inspire you?
-EVERYTHING (books, movies, music, pictures, illustration…)
Q3: What are your techniques?
-I love to put always some of fantasy stuff in my pics, integrating 2D or 3D graphic elements, or just creating dreamy and mysterious atmospheres and environments, and especially playing a lot with lighting.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
-The main idea is always to create something original and mysterious, I seek to capture the viewer’s attention for a quick moment, and that image you are watching gets you think or it gets up inner emotions or feelings in your mind.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
-I love to use pastel & soft colors in backgrounds and stylisms and pale skins in the models. Maybe this remember me to old and vintage tones, and this gives a touch of melancholy and drama to the images which I love.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
-Nothing, I’m happy with my current work at the moment.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
-Oh yes, I’ve a lot of projects in mind for the future, but I think the most important will be to get make an illustrated book with my works, that would be really incredible!
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of Raquel Jaramago.
-Creative, Dreamer & Restless-Mind
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
-One of my very first works was this: HERE
This shoot was inspired in “Lady Mechanika” comic-Story, with SteamPunk style. I love this style, and also I prepared the fashion stylism and accesories, and background images shooted independently and then integrate it with the first. As always, I used pastel-sepia colors on them.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
-Above all, I think the most important change has been in my artistic techniques with post-production. Over time I learned more refined techniques to retouch images, with great attention to detail, and creating more defined and perhaps more pictorial retouches than the first works.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
-Can be both of them for the rest of people, but for me, the Art is totally escaping from reality and creating parallel worlds and realities, these worlds that we can see only in our dreams, I try to hunt them and to bring little parts of them to our life… Because we already have our own real life everydays, right? ^^
