year of birth: 1997
Q1: When did you start making art?
When I was a little? Since I picked up a pen according to my mom. I think at 8 years old I started taking art more seriously. I remember hating stick figures because they looked unreal.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Victorian era…and…well mostly years from 1800-1940. And medieval times sometimes. People from the places I go and their personality. Animals, weird facts, music(mostly classical or soundtracks), Tim burton’s movies and artists like “tracyjb” and “KaneoyaSachiko” in deviantart.
Q3: What are your techniques?
Digital. I first tried digital, I liked it, no changing it. I tried watercolors too some years ago and oils this year. The oils part was pretty fun, but I still prefer digital. Sometimes I use color pencils to paint some elaborated sketches.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
Well… I mostly draw characters. Original characters of mine. So in any situation they are I would like to draw them in some way the viewer feels identified or gets the charisma of my fictional creations.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I use a lot the “red” colour, very cliche I know lol. I like red and I use it so much, many times, I get bored of it, but still like it. Every panting of mine has some tone of red. I used to draw very colorful paintings some time ago, but those colors were slowly drained into some more neutral, grey-ish colors. I believe it’s only a phase, where im kind of depressed.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I was going to say something, then other thing… I just concluded I would like to improve everything hahahaha. Mostly character’s unique features and backgrounds, composition, uh.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Many, but I’ll have to enter the university first and then graduate from my chosen career, digital animation and videogame design. Then climb some places and get to the part where I can lead a team to accomplish some of my projects.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of P-cate.
Dark, classy, arrogant LMAO.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I’m not joking when I tell you this HERE is one of my first serious works LOL. When I was 9-10 I loved doing comics and original characters (although these weren’t so original due to the fact they were “neopets”). This comic lasted long time and many pages….even though is very …very stupid, I’m proud of such big work, and tells me about my love for making comics and trying to give life to my characters. I think more of myself like a “character artist” than just an “artist”. I seek the passion of drawing to give life to my fictional children.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Lots, as you can see. I maintained the love for expressions though, and dark subjects( as you see the little goat is walking through dead bodies haha).
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Essence of life totally. Everything is art, as everything’s maths and language (I would love to say only “art”, but I must be realistic). People who say art is not important are so mistaken in so many levels that I just would love to watch them live and deal with life in a world without art.
