year of birth: 1990
Q1: When did you start making art?
I love art since I was a kid. I always used chalk draw on windows, walls, floor… Everywhere that time. At the age of nine, 1999, I started to learn art in traditional art studio and art institute. The first time I touched CG arts is in 2008 after nine years in learning traditional arts. Since 2011, I began working in CG arts area.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Everything. I still remember the first time when I played World of Warcraft, its details shocked on me. Stones, woods, fields, lakes… They are so amazing and incredible. It’s the first I started to think how the designers let everything become truth from concepts. And in my daily life, everything is still inspiring me. The sunset, the sky, the grasses… Even the tastes of air! If there truly has a thing inspires me, I think that’s my curious mind.
Q3: What are your techniques?
Display with accurate color, that’s important. I draw primarily digital in photoshop with a wacom intuos 5 tablet. Sometimes I will have some stekchs by pencil, but usually I do that by Photoshop.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
Epic atmosphere and feelings. I will think about the layout, colors balance of the screen and the use of subtle gray colors, to let each element rises to feelings from the painting. I want to tell a story from each of my illustrations, to let people feel stories outside of works.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Yellow and gray. For me yellow means life and vitality, gray is a mystery color, hovering at the edge of the light and shadow. But sometimes I will use another color.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Keep drawing, thinking, learning from master works, and curiosity. I often sign name on each work when it’s already finished, I mean, 100 percent. After that I won’t change any corners in the work even I find something mistake there. So the final stage before completion of work is very important to me, usually this phase can bring progress, thinking of the relationship between the overall and local. This stage may use 2-3 hours, may also be longer, 1-2 days. I think this is the responsibility to each work, not casually.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
There’re no any personal projects I think. But I’m very want to publish a personal artbook in the future.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of mooreartcn.
Mystery, Dark, Beer
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
As you see, HERE’s my first CG artwork. About techniques, actually there’s no technique at all. I just drew everything by mouse, it’s very hard to draw, cause you can’t draw the line you want to draw, control mouse is not so easy, and without pressure sensitive. Feeling is so awesome, the first time that I felt- wow, CG is so amazing and powerful!
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
More details, composition, lighting and color composition. At first I drew a character and just a character without anything, it’s very boring to watch. Now I start to let stories coming into my works, to let those charaters alive, to let them look like the truly they are.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
When I’m painting that feels like I’m touching another world I have never seen, the process of painting is the process of discovering. So, art to me is to find the unkown universe, to catch dream, to let dream become my life.
