Viron 2.0 (aka mashina).
year of birth: 1984
Q1: When did you start making art?
I developed a quite obsessive interest in photomanipulation about ten years ago, that’s when I started practicing.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Everything and Nothing at the same time, it could either be the view of a city at night, a scene from a movie or a song. Inspiration lies everywhere, it’s not something you can find, it has to be evoked so I look for it everywhere I feel I need to.
Q3: What are your techniques?
Photomanipulation. I always start from a photographic base and from there I create my works, sometimes I add drawn elements, sometimes I add 3D, it depends on the work… but mainly photomanipulation. I have my personal stocks of photos built in all those years.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
It depends. Sometimes I look for human introspection, sometimes I try to evoke a particular feeling… sometimes I just want to punch the viewer in the face.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Dark blues and dark greens. I guess it’s because I often work at night.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Compositions and subjects. I’ve worked on album covers for so long that I’m starting to grow weary of the limitations of the format.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
To hone my craft and technique. Maybe explore new mediums. To reach outside my comfort zone. Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of mashina (aka Viron 2.0). Methodical, Obsessive, Visceral.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
My very first works were never published because I’ve always been afraid of showing them, but I think that this work HERE could be considered a good starting point representative of my path.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I have no idea. Maybe really nothing has changed except mere technical skills
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
