Q1: When did you start making art?
Since little as everyone, but it wasn’t until my teenage years when I started to spend more and more time into making images and developing ideas.

Q2: What does inspire you?
Way too many things, on the most interesting cases I’m surprised by what ends up inspiring me; but I have to say that whatever I find attractive is always seen under a shroud of mystery of what is not completely understood, and a sense of transformation as in a state of passage between decay or growth.

Q3: What are your techniques?
I take photos, manipulate them, make textures, craft props and then spend lots of time assembling it all.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I like to picture isolated worlds because that’s how I feel the human mind is; in them nature is not a part of the landscape but a confronting protagonist that sometimes it’s wild and triumphant and sometimes get crushed by reason and artifice.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I don’t think I stick to that so much. I’m not afraid of color and always try to give each image the scheme it needs to have more meaning. Very rarely I do monochromatic images. For me color is one of the most important elements in what I do.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
My photographic skills undoubtedly.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Keep creating!

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of MarcelaBolivar.
I wouldn’t know how to answer, sorry.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I lost all my earliest files a while ago. It must have been a random bad quality snapshot of some place with a body in it. And brushes, lots of brushes.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I’d say planning. I am more methodical now, not that I am rigid in my process in any way, but I just leave less things to chance, and that’s good.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Neither of those I think. For me is wakening through fantasies and dreams, but not as a way to scape from reality -quiet the contrary-, fantasies are but a language in which we can understand our own minds and cope with the blessing and burden of consciousness.
