year of birth: 1991
Q1: When did you start making art?
I have been drawing since i was a little kid. I started to take digital art a bit more serious around 2009.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Folklore, music, science and interesting stories. Also art from other people. Most of all tho, I think short stories and scenarios from everyday life.
Q3: What are your techniques?
I mostly work digital, sketching out a line drawing and coloring it afterwards followed by more details. I try to mix with more techniques and trying out different traditional media as well, such as watercolor, acrylics or plain pen/pencil for sketching.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
Sometimes I try to create an idea that most people can relate to. This goes back to the idea of inspiration from ordinary life situations. Often I just sketch funny faces or expressions of creatures and people without really having a main idea.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I think I have a lot of green in my backgrounds. It’s the color of nature and I like murky woods.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I want to improve everything. Color composition is something I find interesting and always want to improve tho. Moreover it’s mostly the general technical areas like perspective, structure, anatomy that all goes back to drawing abilities.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I just finished a big project of illustrating a children’s book. I will try to look for smaller art projects. I’m also working on a website and I will probably have a lot of projects in the field of media technology in the future so I’m not only working in art and illustration.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of K-Bladin.
Drawing, Science, Media technology.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I have a lot of old drawings. When I bought my first tablet I sketched even more. Here is a sketch from 2009: HERE
As far as techniques goes it’s just a digital line drawing in a very sketchy state. The idea was to have an ugly and scary monster being afraid of a little spider, hence the title: Unpredictable fear. Looking back, I know there are so many things that could be improved which is great; I have learned a lot since then.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Comparing the line sketches from back then to now: better structure, better line work, better understanding of perspective, better visual library of anatomy and such, better design thinking. I think everything has improved. The one thing that could be the same since then tho, I think is the main idea of the drawing. This is the hardest part to improve for me.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
It’s just having fun drawing and learning. Nothing more.
