name: Joakim Olaussen
year of birth: 1993
Q1: When did you start making art?
I started making art a long time ago. Around seven years ago I started working a lot with Photoshop.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Everything has the potential to inspire me. I’m glad I don’t need some formula to get inspired, I can just listen to as song, see an insect or just dream something.
Q3: What are your techniques?
It varies from the goal I try to achieve. If I want to make a photo-manipulation I want a strong concept or a good vision of how I want it. I experiment a lot in my work.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I try to express stories that are easier told by my work rather than explained in words.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I don’t think I have any. But I often like to start with a dark palette.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I always want to get better, not only technically but also as an artist.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Not really. I need to create more art as always. All my goals are pretty short term.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of jk3y.
I don’t know. (three words, right?)
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I don’t really have my first work since I started out doing tags. But this HERE is one of my first real lp’s.
I was heavily inspired by Allan Tangedal. I think the piece is okay, a lot of the work could be better but I got really lucky. The piece is way better than my skill level actually was.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
I worked on a lot of abstract 3D art. I’ve done a lot of different stuff in the meantime. I want to be able to take everything I know and make the best piece.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
It started out as a distraction from life. But now I’m doing it because I love it.
