Q1: When did you start making art?
When I was a wee lad! I started practicing when I was 12.

Q2: What does inspire you?
Nature is a big inspiration for me, science, and books I read.

Q3: What are your techniques?
I am mostly digital, using photoshop. I paint very opaquely and with planar shapes.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I like emotional content in my characters. Getting across the right gesture and expression, with a visual design to match, is my biggest objective.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I guess red? It can mean a variety of intense emotions and is very noticeable.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Simplicity in focus, and elegant composition. Easily my two biggest weaknesses.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I am always working on doing illustrations and concept art on Dune! I have a few comic book stories I’d like to illustrate one day as well.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of DeivCalviz.
Intensity, connection, expression.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Well, I can’t really say what my “first work” is… I guess the first piece that made me believe I could do some decent art is this fan art I did of Nightmare from Soul Calibur HERE .This was in 2002, I was 17. It was all pencil on printer paper. It was the first time I felt I captured a sense of drama in a character.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
My range of drawing styles and learning how to paint, color theory in general.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
To me, art is a product of our inability to communicate an idea, with each other and ourselves. Art is our attempt to reach out for, help us explain, or analyze ideas.
