Q1: When did you start making art?
I started drawing at very early age as many other kids do. At that time, my inspiration came mostly from Japanese comic books (manga). Since then, I keep drawing as a hobby and spend a lot of time sketching around. Not until 2 years ago, I decided to pursuit art as a career and started making art seriously.
Q2: What does inspire you?
As I said, I was inspired by Japanese culture in a very long time. Recently, I find inspiration from many sources like Music, Literature, other artists’ artworks. When I read a good books, watch a heart touching movie or even hear a lovely melody, I just want to pick up the pencil and draw them out.
Q3: What are your techniques?
I mainly play around with pencil since I got little experience with painting. Nevertheless, I intend to switch completely to digital painting as soon as I enter college. I learned pencil drawing techniques from great artists, imitated their way of shading and then gradually discovered my own style.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I’m not sure but it might be girls in love. I never felt in love with any one though. I want to show their feeling through their facial expression. There are love and hatred, deep anguish correlated with a bit of madness. But the most important thing is that I want my watchers to feel something about my works more or less.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
As I said earlier, most of my drawings are in black and white so I have to focus more on ideas and emotions to distinguish mine from crowd’s.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I would focus more on techniques to draw background instead of only girls. I would love to show my dreams with a lot of people and complicated background in a drawing. That’s indeed a big challenge for me so I need to work harder.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I will write a webcomic about the love story of a normal girl and the god of forest. I came up with a lot of idea in mind but do not have time to start it.( Cause I’m studying crazily for unversity entrance exam).
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of flycatcher263.
Romantic, Sadness and Nostagia, may be. To be honest, I never thought about that before.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
This HERE is really a stepping-stone for me to make better artworks. I drew it about 1.5 years ago and received many possitives comments from my friends. Those comments encouraged me to draw more and more to get better. At that time, my pencil technique was not very good but this was a present for my very special friend ,so I did spend a lot of effort and received unexpected result. It helped me to understand that we can do anything as long as we put our soul into it.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now? Through a lot of practice, I see myself improve greatly in pencil technique and aesthetic eye.
Q11: What is art for you?
Escaping from reality or the essence of life? My relationship with people surrounding me is wonderful, there is no way I want to escape from reallity. I just tell stories, show my feeling, draw what I love and … everythings that comes to me.
