Year of birth: 1989
Q1: When did you start making art?
Since I have memory I am drawing, always putting my hands in some work related with the plastic arts, I dedicate to professional illustration since I graduated as a Graphic designer at the age of 19.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Many things inspire me (in fact sometimes I’m frustrated for having so much inspiration and ideas for illustrations and having no time to do so), but to mention some of them, it would be Victorian and renaissance movies, baroque and rococo style as well, they are very inspiring to me, magic, opera, ballet and wonderful books as those of Anne Rice, Bran Stoker, Lewiss Carroll, J.R.R Tolkiens, among many others.
Q3: What are your techniques?
I like to work mainly with color pencils, pens, watercolors and lately I am also working with the “pastel chalk” technique.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
In the majority of my drawings I try to project the most horrible things in a beautiful way, and I try to give a dark form to whatever is meant to be beautiful. This is why it is not rare to see a precious young girl surrounded by tragedy and melancholy. I think that even the most horrible feelings can be beautiful, if you learn to appreciate them.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
I do not have specific colours to work, the ideas for each illustration offer an infinity of possible colour combinations that captivate me.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Absolutely everything I can improve from my work, I want to improve.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Currently I am working on my first artbook, I started working on it recently, so there’s still time before the artbook can be ready, but I promise to give my best.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of EnysGuerrero.
Magical Gothic Princess.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
I do not have my first work around (it must be in my parents’ house) but I can show you one of my oldest works on deviantart. HERE “Fanny Boceto Perfil” made with colour pencils, watercolours and pens.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
There are many things that inspire me, so the rest of my illustrations always vary with the time. I think I’ve been able to improve on the techniques I work with and I’ve learnt some new ones that add new characteristics to my drawings. A good example is the use of coffee to give sepia tones to many of my works.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
I think that art is as way to bring to reality everything we dream of. It is a marvelous creating tool. More than an escape from reality, or the essence of life, I think art allows you to give the first step to make the world a better place, with the help of our imagination.
Love this art!
