Q1: When did you start making art?
I started making art ever since I could hold a pencil, but haven’t started making art professionally till 2010.

Q2: What does inspire you?
I usually draw inspiration from other artists. I feel really inspired when others do something really awesome and it pushes me to want to improve that much more.

Q3: What are your techniques?
Rim lights and Atmosphere haha. Aside from that just blocking in basic shapes at he start and figuring out the flow and rhythm within the first 30 min or so. Once the composition is set it’s usually just rendering for hours until I feel it’s finished.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
I like the convey a sense of unease in my works, perhaps from some over looming danger or isolation. But in generally I just like to have fun with my works exploring new ideas as I go along.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Grayish-Blue. Just seems to be my de facto color to use, also my favorite color.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
Probably my composition as well as storytelling.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I’d like to actually illustrate a children’s book or get my foot in into the fine arts community.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of ChunLo.
“Probably procrastinating now”

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
Not my very first work HERE but very representative of it. I took a painterly approach in my earlier days. Using what I learned from studying old masters like Rembrandt, I used a very limited palette as well as painting from dark to light. It was mostly utilizing a push and pull technique with the light and shadows of the form.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
My work now is a lot more tightly rendered and detailed then when I first started out. It was more painterly oriented back then but has now evolved as a more realistic approach, of course sometimes I’d like to dabble back to that style depending on the mood of the piece I am working on.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Art to me is entertainment and self expression. It’s something that is made to be enjoyed by it’s creator and it’s audience, in doing so it shares a perspective of one’s self to others. Many successful artists I feel are only successful because they enjoy and love what they create which people can feel in their works.
