Q1: When did you start making art?
I think I started making art since my childhood. I remember spending hours drawing on my notebooks about abstract concepts, characters among others, of course I can’t call “art” to a child’s drawings; but I considered my little works like true art, so I think my passion for art started there.

Q2: What does inspire you?
I get inspiration from several things. My recent inspiration comes from theology, symbolism, and angelology. All my life I’ve been influenced by religion, so I try to illustrate about that world with my own style you know, trying to make it mine. I also get inspiration from technology, metals and complex mechanisms.

Q3: What are your techniques?
My art consists in digital art, specifically photomanipulation, I use several photographic materials to illustrate an idea, and I also combine different techniques like painting for some details. My main program is Photoshop.

Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
My main idea is to illustrate a world, my world; it is about characters that belong there describing darkness, mysteries a spiritual conflict. I like to create series, so then I can show about different worlds.

Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Recently my main colors are metallic, like golden and silver, a fusion of incandescence and cold. I really like these colors because despite the fact that they are opposite, they make a good mixture. My work is very atmospheric; there is a strong contrast between light and dark.

Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I think I would improve the level of detail. Actually I’m working on it, trying to create a very complex art with a lot of rich details.

Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
I’d love to write and design an illustrated book. In fact, I’m writing a story, and sketching the characters, but the project runs slow because I’m working on other projects as well, and studying at the college.

Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of Carlos-Quevedo.
Dreamer, passionate, self-demanding.

Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
This HERE is my first work from a series of photomanipulations. I wanted to find my own style, so I decided to start a series with this gothic style and the moonlight. This work was very welcome for different persons, so this response inspired me to go on improving my skills on digital art. This piece represents a deep lonely in several ways, there is cold, and empty, besides a sense of eternity.

Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Mostly about concept. Now I get inspiration from my own feelings, knowledge about the world and my beliefs; in past time I was influenced by several artists, now I create a world that belongs to me and somehow it is very recognizable, I’m very happy for that. By the other side, my skills have improved notably; I like the way I use Photoshop because I always discover a new tool or different ways to use it. I enjoy working with high resolution pictures to show even the smallest detail.

Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
The essence of life. I think I never make something not related with art or for artistic purposes. All what I see, read or hear works to inspire me, to make art, to project myself as an artist. I love the fact of having the skills to illustrate my ideas, feelings, thoughts. I’m a passionate of art.
