year of birth:1986
country: Russia/ Ukraine
Q1: When did you start making art?
In 2006 I started to create my first photomanipulations.
In 2008 I got my first tablet and started to try myself in digital painting.
Since 2011 I do photo-retouching.
Q2: What does inspire you?
Oh, if I only knew how to find the source of inspiration perhaps it is the most difficult problem for me, the endless searching. Depression is the only true source of inspiration that has never failed me.
Q3: What are your techniques?
At the most of time I do photomanipulations and mixed-media and sometimes I do digital paintings.
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
Whatever I try to convey in my work I believe that everyone see what he wants to see.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
Red. This is the color of aggression, passion and blood – the symbol of death and the symbol of life. In all of my favourites works I used red color as the main focus. Even my nickname contains “Red”
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I wish I was more productive because I’m a very slow artist. Well and technique, of course. It can always be improved, it MUST always be improved.
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Yes. In 2013 I started to create ball-jointed dolls. I’ve always been obsessed with dolls, so one day I just decided to make my own doll. I spent the whole year in the mastering my new hobby. And this is one of the reasons why I was not so active with digital art this year. This turned out to be a fascinating process and I intend to do it seriously.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of BigBad-Red.
Ambiguous, fanciful, sickly
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
This HERE is not my first work, of course. Unfortunately, my early works were lost. This is the first piece submitted to DeviantART. I cannot exactly say what I put into this work. I guess it just reflected my mood at that moment. It was painted with tablet in Photoshop.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
My creativity has ceased to be something personal and intimate for me. Now I’m not the only one who takes part in the creation of my work. As you may know I work with my husband, he is a photographer. We come up with ideas together. It’s really great to find someone who fully shares your interests.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
Both Art is my hobby and my job, it’s great antidepressant and cause of depression at the same time.
