name: Angelina (nickname Ashitaro)
year of birth: 1988

Q1: When did you start making art?
From childhood I was making something – painting, modeling, not imagining days without creativity. I came to the photography in a high school, and since then I never left it, so I started since 2003.
Q2: What does inspire you?
I am inspired by everything around me and everything within me. The world around, friends, emotions, dreams, my favorite fairy tales and horror stories. Great part of my scariest works have appeared due to my nightmares.
Q3: What are your techniques?
Staged Photo + much, MUCH imagination!
Q4: What is the main idea or feeling behind your works?
The main idea is to share with the world all that I see and how I see it. Including how beautiful the horror can be and on the contrary, how beauty can be frightening.
Q5: What is the main color of your art and why?
My favorite colors – bloody red, white as snow and black as night. In my mind this is the most simple and pure colors, they help to convey practically any feelings on the photo.
Q6: What would you improve about your work and why?
I always try to evolve and to make each new picture a little better than the previous one. I am trying to make better light, to invent better pose and face for models, to make better stuff. I think there always will be what to improve, there is no limit to perfection
Q7: Do you have any project for the future?
Oh, yes! I have a huge list of projects and I’m going to implement them step by step. In particular I would like to develop the mermaids’ theme.
Q8: Describe yourself with 3 words capturing the essence of Ashitaro.
I’ll use the words of my good friend and favorite model Lleye: Psychedelic Intellectual Brainexplosion.
Q9: Show us (link) your very first work. Describe it from techniques till feelings.
There is no link of my very first work, I probably will not even find it in photoalbums… So let me show you my first horror picture, “Still doll” HERE
Of course, my technique was not very good, but goosebumps from the feeling that something was wrong with these dolls in the photo, have stayed the same like the first time.
Q10: What did change from your first work till now?
Since then I have learned much new about photography, about the staging, how to implement my ideas, learned how to make decorations, make-up and special effects and much more. And most importantly, I’ve learned how not to be afraid to realize the ideas.
Q11: What is art for you? Escaping from reality or the essence of life?
It’s like a breathing, impossible to live without it.
Love this art!
